We have been monitoring and detecting click fraud since 1999. In fact long before captcha ever existed. Back in the day we figured out very quickly to spawn a simple form before being redirected to advertiser page. We soon found many forms filled out by bots with gibberish. Captcha was in its infantile stages.
The other thing that struck me personally as very odd was that I had to send money in ‘before’ I received any web traffic AND had to pay for traffic based on the traffic providers stat$!
Hmm so many of us just let this happen in-spite of our good business senses and that nagging pull in our tummies.
Of course I am referring to the PPC industry. Back then click fraud detection was in its infantile stages as well and many had no clue where to start in detecting, monitoring and protecting their advertising dollars against web traffic click fraud, which at the time was running rampant on the Internet. This is why CPA (Cost per acquisition) based advertising was introduced to many receptive advertisers. Where advertisers only pay a commission on a actually sale from affiliates sending traffic first (without any upfront costs to advertisers)
More on that later. But basically i just wanted to give you a little insight regarding our hindsight in a effort to earn your trust regarding our views and foresight.
